Combat Rules

Rules for killing, death, and engagement

Combat Rules

Kill people for reasons. That's most of it.

1. RDM (Random Deathmatch)

Principle: Have some kind of reason before you kill someone.

RDM is killing with no reason at all. You don't need a backstory, just a reason.

Valid Reasons to Kill

SituationWhy It's Valid
They're raiding your baseDefending your shit
They pulled a weapon on youSelf-defense
They refused your mug demandConsequence
You have a hit on them (Hitman)Job function
They attacked your gang or party memberSee section 6
They're wanted and you're policeGovernment RP
They're trespassing and you warned themProperty defense

Dumb Reasons to Kill

ExcuseVerdict
"They looked at me"Stupid
"They walked near my base"Not trespassing
"They insulted me"Words aren't RDM-worthy
"I just felt like it"That's literally RDM

The Reality Check

Kills happen for stupid reasons sometimes. What separates a minor dispute from a rule break:

  • One-off accident or joke? Probably not worth reporting.
  • Same person killing you repeatedly? That's a pattern. Report it.
  • Lost nothing and it was funny? Who cares, move on.
  • Lost stuff and it was bullshit? That's what reports are for.

Staff aren't refereeing every 1v1.

2. VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch)

Principle: Vehicles are for driving, not killing.

Running people over on purpose is VDM:

  • Targeting pedestrians
  • Ramming players into walls
  • Using vehicle physics to crush/trap people

Exceptions

  • Accidents happen. Didn't see them? Apologise and move on.
  • Self-defense. If someone's shooting at your car and blocking your escape, drive through them.

Driving off after hitting someone can count as VDM. Stop and check.

3. NLR (New Life Rule)

When you die, the fight is over for you.

The Timer

5 minutes before you can go back to where you died. Police Chief is 3 minutes.

The Core Principle

Don't interfere with the situation that killed you.

After you die:

  • ❌ Don't run straight back to defend your base
  • ❌ Don't call friends to come counter
  • ❌ Don't hunt down your killer for revenge
  • ❌ Don't mic spam or be annoying about it

You can:

  • ✅ Go back after 5 minutes
  • ✅ Do other stuff elsewhere
  • ✅ Defend against a different raid later

During Active Raids

If you die defending your base during a raid, you cannot return until the raid is over, even if 5 minutes pass. Let the raid play out.

What You Still Know

You forget the fight. You don't forget your life.

✅ You still know❌ You don't know
Who your friends areWho killed you
Where you liveWhy you died
Your job and your moneyThat a raid is happening
That you own a baseWhere the fight was

Getting arrested and released is a new life. That situation is over and you can go back.

Worked Examples

SituationVerdict
Walking back down the street you died on, to do something else
Walking back down that street to find who killed you
Going home after raiders killed you and left✅ once the raid is over
Going home while the raid is still running
Going back to finish a raid you died in
Standing outside your base to watch the raid you died in
Catching the raiders later, somewhere else, and raiding them back
Waiting on the route they'll take home to kill them
Don't ruin it for the people who killed you.

4. Revenge Killing

Someone killed you, even if it was RDM? You can't hunt them down for it.

Why?

  • You don't "remember" who killed you (NLR)
  • Vigilante justice creates endless kill loops
  • That's what staff reports are for

Record the clip and report it.

5. Warnings and Trespassing

Someone won't leave your property? Tell them to go first.

How To Warn

  1. Look at them and open the Interactions menu (G)
  2. Pick Warn them to leave
  3. They get 10 seconds to go

Still there after 10 seconds? You can kill them. The warning lasts 2 minutes, then it's gone. If they come back later, warn them again.

Every warning is logged, so staff can check "I warned him".

What A Warning Is Not

❌ Not a valid warningWhy
Shouting it in voice chatNothing recorded it
Typing it in chatNothing recorded it
A sign on your wallA sign is not a warning to a person
Warning then killing instantlyThey get their 10 seconds

What You Can't Warn For

Warnings are for people on your property or in your way. Not for:

  • Walking past your base
  • Standing on a public street
  • Looking at you
  • Using an NPC, shop or public entity for what it's for
  • Being someone you don't like

Warning someone off a public space so you can kill them is RDM.

6. Defending Other People

You can defend someone if you're actually with them.

To fight on someone else's behalf, you have to be in a party or gang with them.

SituationAllowed?
Your gang member is being mugged, you're stood there
Your party member is defending a raid, you join in
A random stranger is being mugged, you shoot the mugger
Your gang member got killed across the map, you hunt the killer
Someone you're basing with, but not partied with❌ Party up

They have to be able to tell you're together before you shoot. Sniping someone from a rooftop who never saw you is RDM. Be visible, be nearby, be obviously involved.

If your party member started it, that's not defence. Raids are different and have their own rules.

7. Crossfire

You're responsible for your bullets.

Kill a bystander in a firefight and it depends on:

  • Was the area crowded? (Your fault for shooting there)
  • Did the victim run into the fight? (Their problem)
  • Did you use explosives in public? (Definitely your fault)
  • Did you apologize and explain? (Shows good faith)

Repeated "accidents" will be treated as negligence or intentional.
