Stacker Tool Guide

Complete guide to Improved Stacker in Garry's Mod - quickly duplicate and stack props with precise offsets, rotation, and automatic constraints

Improved Stacker

Improved Stacker lets you rapidly duplicate props in any direction with precise control over offset, rotation, and automatic constraints. Essential for building walls, columns, stairs, and repeating structures.

Workshop Addon

Basic Controls

ActionWhat It Does
Left-clickStack props (creates full stack count)
Right-clickStack single prop
E + Left-clickIncrease stack count by 1
E + Right-clickDecrease stack count by 1
Reload (R)Cycle stack direction
Shift + Left/Right-clickAlternative to E key (if enabled)

Stack Directions

Press Reload (R) to cycle through 6 directions:

DirectionDescription
UpStack vertically upward
DownStack vertically downward
FrontStack forward (away from you)
BackStack backward (toward you)
LeftStack to prop's left
RightStack to prop's right

Direction Arrows

When aiming at a prop, colored arrows show the current stack direction.

Tool Settings

Open spawn menu (Q) to access settings:

Stacking Options

SettingDescription
Stack ModeWorld (global axes) or Prop (relative to prop rotation)
Stack CountNumber of props to create (1-15 default max)
Stack RelativeEach prop rotates based on previous (for curves)
Ghost AllShow all stacked positions or just the first

Offset (Spacing)

SettingDescription
Offset XSpacing on X axis (positive/negative)
Offset YSpacing on Y axis
Offset ZSpacing on Z axis

Use "Reset Offsets" button to set all to 0.

Rotation Per Stack

SettingDescription
PitchTilt forward/backward per prop
YawRotate left/right per prop
RollSpin per prop

Use "Reset Angles" button to set all to 0.

Auto-Apply Options

SettingDescription
FreezeStacked props spawn frozen
WeldStacked props welded to each other
NoCollideStacked props don't collide with each other
Apply MaterialCopy original prop's material
Apply ColorCopy original prop's color
Apply PhysicsCopy gravity, weight, physics material

Building Walls

Spawn a wall segment — flat plate or PHX panel

Freeze it in position with Physgun

Set direction to Up (press R until arrow points up)

Set stack count (E + Left-click to increase)

Left-click the prop to stack vertically

Change direction to Front or Right to extend horizontally

Repeat to build the full wall

Zero Offset = No Gaps

Keep all offset values at 0 for seamless stacking where props touch edge-to-edge.

Building Stairs

Create stairs using rotation per stack:

Spawn a step prop (thin platform)

Place and freeze the first step

Set direction to Front (or direction stairs should climb)

Set Offset Z to step height (e.g., 10-20 units)

Set stack count for number of steps

Left-click to create staircase

For spiral stairs, enable "Stack Relative" and add Yaw rotation per step.

Building Curves

Use Stack Relative mode with rotation:

Enable "Stack Relative" checkbox

Set a small Yaw value (e.g., 5-15 degrees)

Stack props — each rotates relative to the previous

This creates arches, circular walls, or spiral structures.

Server Limits

Server admins can set limits via console:

ConVarDescription
stacker_max_countMax props per stack (default: 15)
stacker_max_totalMax total stacker props per player
stacker_max_offsetx/y/zMax offset distance
stacker_force_freezeForce props to spawn frozen
stacker_force_weldForce props to be welded
stacker_force_nocollideForce no-collide
stacker_stayinworldPrevent stacking outside map
stacker_delayCooldown between stacks
